Recently, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria assented to the passage of various Bills sent from the National Assembly. Amongst the Bills was the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 Alteration (No 21) Act. These alterations deal with;
1. The jurisdiction of the courts to hear pre-election petitions
2. What is considered as a pre-election matter and
3. The timelines within which such petitions can be instituted by aggrieved parties in a political primary election.
