INEC Begins Distribution Of PVCS In Zamfara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Friday that it had started issuing Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to all those it registered in 2014 in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Alhaji Garba Galadima, in Gusau.

The statement stated that the commission had directed all its Local Government Electoral Officers in the state to immediately commence the distribution of the PVCs.

It said the cards were to be collected on working days between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. at the local government INEC offices throughout the 14 local government areas of the state.

It said the PVCs would only be given to the owners on the presentation of the Temporary Voters’ Card (TVC) which was issued earlier and that no card would be issued to a proxy.

As for those who lost their TVCs, the commission directed that such affected persons should come with one passport photograph, which would be documented as evidence.

The commission then urged owners of the PVCs to keep them in safe custody, as “only those in possession of the PVC will be allowed to vote during future elections’’.
